RGGI 2.0

Funded by a grant from the Energy Foundation, the RGGI Clean Energy 2.0 Project aimed to study, learn from, and engage the private sector in strengthening the successful, regional energy and climate programs across New England. All six New England states are part of the two-year-old Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI), a model for federal legislation.  At the same time, the states vary in the effectiveness of their efforts in using RGGI-related funding to foster energy efficiency and clean energy improvements in their state economies.

The RGGI Clean Energy 2.0 Project educated business and public opinion leaders on RGGI’s benefits in boosting the economic competitiveness and clean energy business sector of the states, supporting efforts to improve RGGI’s effectiveness, and identifying effective state-level climate and clean energy implementation programs as models for region-wide adoption.
