Briefing on the November Ballot Initiative to Overturn California’s Climate and Energy Law, AB32
Clean Economy Network & National Venture Capital Association

Co-Sponsored by the New England Clean Energy Council

The risk to the clean energy economy and the jobs we are creating is real. California’s leadership in this area has already driven $9 billion in private economic investment and sparked more than 125,000 jobs in the state. Unfortunately, political ideologues and oil companies who are fighting against competition have submitted 800,000 signatures to qualify a November 2010 ballot proposition that will indefinitely suspend the state’s landmark climate and energy law, AB32. And they have committed at least $50 million to win.

Success, even significant momentum, by these opponents of the clean economy will destabilize clean tech markets and make public policy unpredictable. Their two-front war against climate and energy laws—in California and in Congress—poses a significant threat to clean tech's recent bipartisan progress.

As a leader in the clean tech industry, we need your advice, support, and voice to defend AB32 and the clean energy economy because the best people to stop this anti‐business initiative are business leaders. Please join us on June 11.
