Updates from the Council’s Focus Areas

Innovation: Across New England and across the country, the Clean Energy Innovation Consortia initiative—originally drafted by the Council as a title in the Waxman-Markey Bill and focused on commercialization and cluster development—has gained momentum, securing a new sponsor in the Senate... Growth: At events such as “The Resurrection of Project Finance” and “Navigating Washington”, the Council convened experts to deliver critical information to packed audiences at two separate events. We are currently gearing up for our second annual CEO D.C. Fly-in, taking place on May 11th and 12th. The main goal of the Fly-in will be to advocate for the passage of a comprehensive climate and energy bill... Read more »

Education: The Council’s Workforce Development Group is organizing a series of employer forums throughout New England, to assess workforce and training needs in New England, and is working to create a comprehensive online directory of training and education programs in region... Read more »

Adoption: What are the challenges facing the clean energy developer community and what role does policy play? In recent months the Council convened two “Developers’ Roundtables” to discuss these and other issues, and to determine policy priorities to accelerate the development of renewable energy projects... Policy: The Council is working aggressively to advocate for the passage of a comprehensive climate and energy bill that places a price on carbon. Our goal is to convince pivotal New England Senators that a “no” vote on a climate bill is a vote to suppress a powerful economic engine growing in the region. We’ve had meetings with Senator Scott Brown (MA) and Senator Judd Gregg (NH), and will be meeting with Senator Olympia Snowe (ME) and others in the coming weeks... Read More»
