2010 Q1 - Growth Update

Navigating DC: Making the Most of Your Government Relationships

In December 2009, the Council hosted a panel of CEOs with experience in navigating Federal relationships in Washington. In Part II of the series, the Council welcomed Congresswoman Niki Tsongas to keynote an event entitled “Making the Most of Your Government Relationships: Lessons From the Experts.” In addition to Congresswoman Tsongas’ remarks, the event featured an interview with Jeff Duncan, Legislative Director for Congressman Ed Markey, in which he discussed best practices in building Congressional relationships. Last, the event offered short case study presentations from government relations firms from the Council’s sponsor base.

In convening this series, the Council hopes to build momentum for its Second Annual DC CEO Fly-In, which will take place on May 11th-12th.

Washington D.C. Fly-in 2010

On May 11th and 12th the Council is executing its second annual D.C. Fly-in for CEOs. The main goal for this year’s Fly-in will be to advocate for the passing of a joint climate and energy bill this session to improve our national security, increase domestic sources of clean energy , give the U.S. a competitive advantage over countries like China in the clean energy space, and create tens of thousands of jobs in New England and across the country.

The agenda for the Fly-In will likely include meetings with key Members of Congress, the Administration and various caucuses, meetings/presentations from representative of federal agencies, two lunch sessions, a breakfast, a dinner and a cocktail reception, and last but certainly not least, outstanding opportunities for Fly-in attendees to network with each other.
