Boston seeks RFPs for $2.7M in energy efficiency grants
By Mass High Tech staff
Boston Mayor Thomas Menino has announced a request for proposals to receive $2.7 million in Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grants, funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
The grants will support existing Boston homes and small businesses — those targeted as being overlooked by the majority of federal and utility energy programs — with free or low-cost energy efficiency retrofits.
Of the $2.7 million, almost $1.8 million will go to RFPs for Boston homeowners between 60 percent and 120 percent of the commonwealth’s state median income. These recipients will pull energy efficiency retrofits from weatherization programs under MassSave and federal tax credits.
