The Mechanical Technician will be responsible for assembly of prototypes and test fixtures, as well as test support. The position is mostly “hands-on” and involves using a wide range of test and manufacturing equipment with high levels of quality, efficiency and safety.

Responsibilities include the following:
• Assemble prototype hardware and test facilities.
• Assist testing and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and thermal devices.
• Fabricate and modify parts as required for prototypes.
• Select components and hardware for test facility design.
• Document work through memos, red-lined drawings, sketches, etc.
Qualifications include the following:
• Technical AS or BS degree, with 4 years experience in a similar role.
• US citizenship or permanent residency required. Work visas are not accepted.
• Ability to read and understand complex drawings, schematics, bills of materials, parts lists, assembly instructions and additional technical materials.
• Familiarity with fluid handling equipment, compressed gasses, temperature, pressure and flow measurement.
• Capable of performing precision assembly tasks at a high level of quality and productivity.
• Strong hands-on troubleshooting.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• General knowledge of standard laboratory and shop practices and safety procedures.
• General computer skills, including familiarity with MS Word and Excel.
• Ability to work on multiple projects at once.
• Attention to detail and the desire to consistently produce high quality work.
Additional useful skills:
• Competency using lathes and milling machines, as well as various hand tools.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks and/or Labview.
• Light TIG welding, brazing, and soldering.
• Previous electro-mechanical assembly experience.
