Growth
The Council seeks to ensure that established clean energy companies have every opportunity to grow and thrive within the region, and to ensure that as many as possible choose to locate the bulk of their facilities here in New England.
Through our CEO Council, we regularly convene 50-60 CEOs of leading clean energy companies in the region, helping each to understand the programs available to support their growth, and exploring ways to remove obstacles to their success.
Q2 2010 Growth Update
CEO D.C. Fly-in
On May 11th and 12th the Council successfully executed its second annual CEO D.C. Fly-in. More than 50 executives and investors participated in meetings with Congressional Members from both parties and both chambers, as well as with officials from the Department of Energy and the Department of Commerce. The focus of this year’s Fly-in was to advocate for the passing of a joint climate and energy bill this session to improve our national security, increase domestic sources of clean energy, give the U.S. a competitive advantage in the clean energy space, and create tens of thousands of jobs in New England and across the country.
The agenda included remarks from Senators Brown (MA), Kerry (MA), Cantwell (WA), and Wyden (OR), and Representatives Markey (MA), Welch (VT), and McNerney (CA), as well as Deputy Secretary of Energy Daniel Poneman and many others. The full fly-in agenda can be downloaded below.
Executive Internship Program
The Council is pleased to announce that it will be launching an Executive Internship program starting in Q3 2010. The program will match member companies in need of strategic help on temporary strategic projects with experienced senior executives transitioning into the clean energy sector in need of projects.
Unlike MBA interns, the Council's executive interns have long-standing practical experience in vetting new business opportunities and providing strategic and managerial leadership in a variety of areas. The Council plans to start its executive pool with the Council's existing roster of Clean Energy Fellows but will soon expand the program later this year.
